What does Food, Sex, and Music have in common? They release dopamine and dopamine makes us feel freaking good right? I mean Imagine doing all three at the same time, things could get messy but hey, It could be worth it. Anyways, aside from my inappropriate imagination, I want to focus on music but not just any music.
Have any of you experienced Divinity? Now I’m not talking about the state or quality of being divine but rather the sound of a very talented independent artist from L.A. known as “D I V I N I T Y”. Well I have, and I gotta say his music has increased my dopamine levels, so it’s definitely a sound worth listening to, but first let’s get to know him a little better.

He started out playing guitar at age ten and eventually became a guitarist in the metal music scene. That lasted for a while until late 2015 when his interests shifted into producing Electronic Dance Music (EDM). It seems a bit random since that’s a whole different genre, so what was the catalyst for undergoing this change? The culprit was the song “Sad Machine” from Porter Robinson. It was an instant connection which inspired him to take his skills to a whole new level.
“Throughout my life I’ve dabbled with all sorts of instruments so going into production just made sense to me. From then on my interests in music made me realize that I wanted to pursue this as a career. Porter Robbinson’s music has changed my point of view in life, and in a way it has changed me forever.”
Music has been an outlet for him to express his emotions, an opportunity to do better and make new connections in life. Speaking of connections, he’s participated in many collaborations with other artists.
“Working with OIÜ and DNAKM has been an awesome experience and has brought me the opportunity to be on huge platforms like Proximity as well as being featured on huge playlists like the EDC playlist on Spotify. We’re actually working on another collaboration which will probably be released by late 2020.”
According to him, If he were given the opportunity to choose and work with any artist, it would be “Grimes” or “Bring Me The Horizon”. As of now he’s working on other collaborations and a track that has a mixture of his early sound with some heavy elements and will feature “Kaylie Foster”.
“I’m really excited for that project since I’m going back to my metal roots. I’m developing an EP and will be announcing the details for that project soon.”

As you can see, D I V I N I T Y is a versatile musician/producer that is dedicating his life to his passion. His music has elements that are uniquely based on his experiences, fusing elements that were inspired by Anime, Metal, EDM and others. I have enjoyed listening to his work and the variety it offers will keep anyone engaged while raising that dopamine. I asked him if there’s anything he would like to say to other aspiring artists.
“Life is a journey, In the end it’s not about what you have, it’s all about where you wanna go and the roads you take to help you get there.”
